Duquesne Light Company has been notified by the BVPS architect / engineer that, based on in-plant inspections, a review was conducted of the as-built configuration of cable trays and conduits that are attached to the underside of the cabic spreading floor at elevation 725 ft.        Because of the light design of the floor slab, a preliminary analysis of the framing beams (using conservative values of acceleration for the DBE conditions) has indicated a potential overstress in the floor beams. Since the plant is shutdown due to the refueling outage and certain functions are still continuing, we considered it necessary to check the adequacy of the steel beams for the ODE conditions. For this analysis, the peak acceleration values from the Amplified Response Spectra based on Soil Structure Interaction and 1/27. damping values were used. In this analysis, a live load of 20 p.s.f. was used and torsional effects due to horizontal forces on the lower beam flange were ignored.
Since the plant is shutdown due to the refueling outage and certain functions are still continuing, we considered it necessary to check the adequacy of the steel beams for the ODE conditions.
