April.20,1980, postcard with, regard to the West Valley site. liy understanding. of the. safety of current. operat. ions at the site is not consistent with your statements; however..since-the Depart =cnt of Energy has no authority or jurisdiction over the site operation.

I have forwarded your postcard.to,the, Nuclear. Regulatory Commission which licensed the facility, for.their_ consideration,. Further correspondence.of a similar nature should be directed..to the.NBC in_the. future. .

With regard to. the site " cleanup" mentioned.in.your postcard, you are no doubt aware that we are in the. process.of defjning.a. project to solidify.the high-level liquid waste being stored gn-sjte,..Upco. Congressional. authcriz.atic we will proceed to car'ry out the project..
