DISCUSSION:

On February 2, 2018, the NRC held a closed meeting with Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC (WEC), Brookfield Partners L.P., and Toshiba representatives to discuss WEC's bankruptcy proceeding, the announced sale of WEC to Brookfield, and plans to submit a transfer of control application.
Brookfield's acquisition of Westinghouse is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018. WEC discussed the status of the bankruptcy proceedings and their plans to request NRC's approval for an indirect transfer of control of Westinghouse including an interim licensing action that will be submitted in February. The future transfer of control application may impact the materials license, SNM-1107, which authorizes the possession and use of special nuclear material at the Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility in South Carolina, materials license SNM-33 which is under decommissioning and expected final remediation in 2018, and WEC's import and export licenses.
