The information is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by the Region II staff on this date.

SUBJECT:

MEDIA INTEREST IN MINOR TRANSFORMER FIRE Local media interest developed over the weekend when the licensee telephoned area news organizations to announce the occurrence of a small fire at 11:10 p.m. (CDT) on July 26 in a transformer in the 3 "C" 4KV Unit Board. The board was unloaded at the time and was in the process of being returned to service following maintenance.

There was no ef'ect upon safety related loads, and the fire was extinguished at 11:25 p.m.

(CDT) by the fire bridage.

The licensee is evaluating damage to adjacent electrical connections. Region II will conduct routine follow-up of licensee corrective actions.

All three Browns Ferry units are in cold shutdown.

The State of Alabama has been informed.
