FUEL CHANNEL WEAR ADJACENT TO INCORE MONITORING TUBES As of 7:00 AM this date, 203 fuel channel boxes have been eyamined for excessive corner wear from incore monitoring tube vibration.

examined, 88 were rejected based on a wear mark or path which is estimated

to result in a wall thickness reduction of about or.e half.
One of the E
' channel boxes had a wear through opening resembling a crack along the corner edge of about 16 inches in length.
GE, who is participating in the inspection. considers the information developed from this examination to be proprietai'.
OIE (Region II) received the information regarding this matter from F. Cantrell, our inspector who was at the site, on August 5 and 6, ;,
1975. The inform'ation on the fuel channels was obtained from both TVA and GE employees.
