SUBJECT:
FIRE THREAT At 3:15 p.m.
(EST) on December 6, the Unit I control operator received an off-site telephone call from a male calle* who stated:
"If you open up that drywell, you will have a bigger fire this time than you had before."
The caller was' referencing a Unit 2 drywell fire of November 2 (PN-OSP-87-12).
When asked who he was, the caller said only that "I work there." He then hung up.
The licensee searched all three drywells and did not find any suspicious items.
All personnel are logged in and out of the drywells.
An unusual Event was declared at 3:50 p.m. (EST) on Decenber 6 and terminated at 4:35 a.m, 9 The licensee has notified the FBI and State (EST)onDecember7.
All three uni u are shut down and defueled.
Both the licensee and the NRC are prepared to respond to media inquiries sbuld they occur.
The NRC received initial notification of this even: by telephone from the licensee to the Headquarters incident Response Center at 4:07 p.m. (EDT) on December 6.
