T. R. QUAY SUll]ECT: PRELIMINARY MARKED UP SECTIONS OF SSAR CHAPTER 15 (ACCIDENT ANALYSES)

Dear Mr. Quay:

linclosed are preliminary rnarked up sections of the AP600 Standard Safety Analysis Report (SSAR)

Chapter 15 covering the transient analyses of small-break LOCA accidents. These sections complement those transmitted on June 2,1995 (Reference NTD-NRC-95-4480). The following sections are included:

15.6 Decrease in Reactor Coolant Inventory (parts)

Appendix 15D AP600 NOTRUMP Model The parts of Section 15.6 provided in this submittal are: subsections 15.6.5.2.2, 15.6.5.413, 15.6.5.4C, and 15.6.5.5. Subsection 15.6.5.4C is a new section, added to present LOCA long term cooling analysis. A version of this subsection, covering large break LOCA long-term cooling, was included in the previous package (Reference NTD NRC-95-4480); the enclosed version - expanded to include small-break LOCA long-term cooling - supersedes it.

Appendix 15D contains Westinghouse proprietary information. In line with the Westinghouse intent to remove proprietary material from the AP600 SSAR, this information will be removed as part of a future revision and will be placed in appropriate documents.

f With the exception of Appendix 15A, sections relating to dose assessment (15.1.5.4,15.3.3.3,15.4.8.3, 15.6.2.15.6.3.3,15.6.5.3.3, and 15.7) have not yet been submitted. Revisions of these sections are currently in preparation and will be transmitted separately.
