PRELIMINARY MARKUPS OF AP600 SSAR CHAPTER 15 (ACCIDENT ANALYSES)

Enclosed are preliminary marked up sections of the AP600 Standard Safety Analysis Report (SSAR)
Chapter 15 covering the transient analyses of non-LOCA, steam generator tube mpture and large-break LOCA accidents. These preliminary sections are being provided at this time to assist the NRC review of the AP600 consistent with the June,1994 expedited schedule. The following sections are included:
15.0 Accident Analyses 15.1 increase in Heat Removal from the Primary System 15.2 Decrease in Heat Removal by the Secondary System 15.3 Decrease in Reactor Coolant System Flow Rate 15.4 Reactivity and Power Distribution Anomalies 15.5 increase in Reactor Coolant Inventory 15.6 Decrease in Reactor Coolant Inventory Appendix 15A Evaluation Models and Parameters for the Analysis of Radiological Consequences of Accidents Appendix 15B LOFTRAN Code Modification and Verification Appendix 15C AP600 WCOB 4AfrRAC Vessel and Loop Models Appendix 15E Description of the WCOliTRAfrRAC Noding for the AP600 Long Term Cooling Analysis A new sub-section and Appendix have been added to present the large-break LOCA long term cooling analysis. Sub-section 15.6.5.4C presents the cases analyzed, and Appendix 15E details the WCOBRAffRAC modeling. Other than Appendix 15A, sections relating to dose assessment (15.1.5.4, 15.3.3.3,15.4.8.3,15.6.2,15.6.3.3,15.6.5.3.3, and 15.7) are not included in this submittal. Revisions of these sections are currently in preparation and will be transmitted separately. Revisions to the sub-sections relating to small-break LOCA (15.6.5.2.2,15.6.5.4B,15.6.5.5 and Appendix 15C), and a new sub-section presenting the small-break LOCA long-term cooling analysis, are also in preparation, p{}&

NTD-NRC-95-4480 DCP/NRC0341 June 2,1995 Sub-sections 15.6.5.4A.4.1, and Appendices ISB,15C and 15E contain Westinghouse proprietary information. In line with the Westinghouse intent to remove proprietary material from the AP600 SSAR, this information will be removed as part of a future revision and will be placed in appropriate reference documents.
Enclosed with Ms. Jackson's copy of this letter are five copies of the enclosed materials. The Westinghouse Electric Corporation copyright notice, proprietary information notice, application for withholding and affidavit are also attached.
This submittal contains Westinghouse proprietary information consisting of trade secrets, commercial information or financial information which we consider privileged or confidential pursuant to 10CFR2.790. The specific types of proprietary information contained in the report are identified in paragraphs (4)(ii)(a), (4)(ii)(b) and (4)(ii)(c) of the attached affidavit. Therefore, it is requested that the Westinghouse proprietary information attached hereto be handled on a confidential basis and be withheld from public disclosures.
This material is for your internal use only and may be used for the purpose for which it is submitted.
It should not be otherwise esed, disclosed, duplicated, or disseminated, in whole or in part, to any wher person or organizatier, outside the Commission, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, the Of fice of Nuclear Regulatory Research and the necessary subcontractors that have signed a proprietary non-disclosure agreement with Westinghouse without the express written approval of Westinghouse.
