FRAMATOME INC. - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE LICENSE AMENDMENT AND APPROVAL OF CRITICALITY SAFETY METHODS (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2023-LLA-0073)

Dear T.J. Tate:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff developed a request for additional information (RAI) to support the review of the Framatome criticality safety license amendment application. The NRC staff received your submittal dated May 17, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23137A396; non-public) requesting to amend License No. SNM-1227, and approval of criticality safety methods.

Our review of your license application has identified the need for additional information. The additional information, specified in the public enclosure to this letter, should be provided within 20 days from the date of this letter.

We continue to anticipate completing our review by December 2023, as previously stated in our acceptance review dated June 21, 2023 (ML23144A309). This date could change depending on us obtaining resolution of the RAIs, findings of our technical review, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2 Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website site at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment.
