RE: Request for Additional Information (RAI) Regarding EnergySolutions, LLC Submittal for Approval of the Kewaunee Solutions DQAP / Additional time request Date: Friday, February 18, 2022 4:55:00 PM Attachments:

By letter dated September 29, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML21277A246), EnergySolutions submitted to the NRC Revision 0 of the Kewaunee Solutions Decommissioning Quality Assurance Program (DQAP) for NRC approval prior to the implementation of the indirect transfer application dated May 10, 2021 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML21131A141). In letter dated November 9, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21309A015) the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) accepted the DQAP submittal for review with an anticipated completion of April 22, 2022 depending upon the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors.

In a separate letter dated February 2, 2022, (ADAMS Accession No. ML22032A324), the NRC staffs technical review of your DQAP submittal identified issues that required additional information and provided an option to request additional time to respond if needed.

The purpose of this email is to advise you that a requested due date of February 25, 2022 is acceptable for completion of your response. The NRC staff will endeavor to complete the clarification with EnergySolutions for the new date of February 25, 2022. If there are emergent complexities or challenges in our review that would cause changes to the initial forecasted completion date or significant changes in the forecasted hours, the reasons for the changes, along with the new estimates, will be communicated during the routine interactions with the assigned project manager. These estimates are based on the NRC staffs initial review of the application and they could change, due to several factors including requests for additional information, and unanticipated addition of scope to the review.
