Mishicot, WI, 54228 Email: rderuyter@frontier.com Phone: 9203345130 General Comment Point Beach license renewal needs to be at a minimum investigated, and preserved if possible, to keep Nuclear power as part of the state's energy mix by providing a dependable base load source for power 24/7. As energy production has moved away from coal and gas, sources for dependable base load power needs to be maintained for when the sun doesn't shine, and the wind doesn't blow. Battery storage may be a part of the solution for renewable energy in the future, but the technology is not there yet, and batteries have their own set of environmental issues and limitations.

As a retired employee of Point Beach, there have been problems there in the past, but those problems have been resolved, and the plant is still a source of dependable power, and is of important economic benefit to the area around the plant. The staff is very dedicated to ensure that the plant is maintained to the highest standards, and operational excellence is maintained while providing a source of clean energy.
