It has provided clean, safe, and reliable energy for the community for over 50 years and continues to improve and pump out reliable electricity everyday. There are a few points that I think NEED to be mentioned and taken into consideration when it comes to the expected license extension to 80 years.

1. Point beach provides Clean zero carbon energy that greatly improves air quality and reduces pollution from our grid. This needs to be taken into consideration with our society moving to zero carbon energy and working towards a carbon free society. Nuclear power( including plants like point beach) are going to be absolutely vital to reaching clean energy goals for our future. What needs to be taken into consideration is the comparison to other baseload electricity sources like Gas or Coal. Point beach alone has saved over 14,000 lives by producing clean energy rather than being a coal plant of the same capacity! Point beach is a warrior for the future and must be preserved for its clean carbon free energy.
2. Reliability. Point beach provides clean energy with an almost 97% capacity factor. As we have seen recently in areas like Texas. Reliable electricity production saves lives. If we have unreliable source of electricity we will run into issues of running diesel and gasoline generators more often, which has a direct impact on the environment. We would also have to run most likely gas plants that will produce carbon emissions and other pollution into our air. The reliability and resilience that the PBNP has provided is priceless and avoids so many headaches and hardships for its community.
3. Spent fuel. Spent fuel is often seen as an issue. But truly looking at it from a scientific and unbias point of view shows that its actually a huge positive. Spent has never in history caused a single death. It is SUNI Review Complete Template=ADM-013 E-RIDS=ADM-03 ADD: Phyllis Clark, Bill Rogers, Mary Neely Comment (42)

Its so important to understand that every single bit of spent fuel produced by the PBNP its in 50 years of operation is on site on a small concrete pad. I have attached a picture of this just to show how small of an amount this really is. There will be no issue for PBNP to operate for another 30 years. Another topic as far as spent fuel goes is that this is far from "waste". it can be reprocessed, it could be used as fuel for new reactor technologies, and we have more new ways of using it coming. It is incredibly safe and shows almost no risk to our environment.

4. Last point that needs to be taken into consideration is footprint. Point beach takes up very little space for the amount of power it produces. This is incredibly important for our environment. The PBNP itself only takes up roughly 6 acres of land. This allows the surround area to be free for trees to grow and animals to freely graze and live. This is a great contrast to other clean energy sources like solar and wind.

for instance the Two creeks solar project that is taking place right next to point beach will take up 1300 acres of land with a nameplate capacity of 150 MW. taking into consideration the average capacity factor in the US for solar power is 24%. We are talking about 1300 acres producing roughly 36 MWh of electricity. Point beach will produce roughly 1212 MWh of electricity on 6 acres. This is not a dig at other clean energy sources. I am only showing amazing PBNP truly is and why it is so beneficial for our environment.

To wrap things up, PBNP is important for preserving and protecting our environment and world for now and for future generations. I believe the 20 year license extension is warranted when it comes to cleaning up our environment.
