There is not permanent nuclear waste storage site. Embrittlement of the containment vessel creates a risk of unknown Chernobyl sized proportions. Safe and cheaper power is available from wind and solar.

Radioactive waste can remain toxic for centuries upon centuries, perhaps beyond the time humans inhabit the earth. Shut the reactor down.
