One cannot simly put things in vaults, pools casks or the ground as a way of getting rid of waste. We are painfully coming to realize that across the planet from islands of plastic in the ocean to the risks of radioactive leakage from nuclear plants.

Any EIS for Point Beach must take into account the rising waters of Lake Michigan. That fact plus the dense population in the area and the disastorous effects of any accident upon the human population and the area's natural habitats indicate to me that the Point Beach Plant should be phased out.

Renewable energy is safer for all involved.

This comment may not be filled with scientific stats and figures. I prefer to see it as Common Sense.

Common Sense says that nuclear wate is not something that we can sweep under the rug. Or in this case, store in tanks, vaults, casks or pools with the assumption that nothing will disturb it. Climate change and the disruptive weather we are experiencing world wide must be taken into consideration.

Common Sense says that we have the intelligence to use renewables and we can bring them in to replace nuclear. In particular, renewable energy has advanced significantly since Point Beach Nuclear came into being. The time is right to push forward with renewables and eliinate the everpresent risks that nuclear power plants bring to community.
