- In response to the memorandum from IE
- HQ requesting infomation on other cases of embedded plate welding problems, a' case was identified at STP which should be forwarded to E. J. Gallagher in IE:HQ The information requested is presented in Enclosure 1 using the format provided by IE:HQ.

FACILITY DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM REFERENCES

South Texas Project Inspection of embedments on site revealed IE Report 80-18(9/19/80)
Units 1 & 2 that ceramic ferrules had not been removed DN 50-498; 50-499 from many stud welds thus preventing 50.55(e) Notification (7/31/80) inspection of welds as required by AWS DI.1.
Reinspection of over 396,000 stud welds on 50.55(e) Final Report (3/5/81)-
site revealed that 162 were unacceptable and 49 studs were found to be missing.
