WELDING SUPERVISOR CONCERNING WELDING PROBLEMS AT THE SOUTE TEXAS PROJECT (STP), UNITS NO. 1 & 2, DN 50-498; 50-499 The two attached memoranda dated May 1 and 6, 1980, respectively, are allegations by Individual "I" in regard to velding problems at STP. The time frame for the allegaticcs was September 1979 through January 1980.
Individual "I" ves fired in J w ary 1980.
The soleni telephone cow ersation contains a couple of allegations not mentioned in the fi: st comersation. Also, the second conversation contains clarification of the allegations in the first com ersation.
The allegations closely parallel and some are identical to velding problems described 2in the HQ directed in estigation report, 79-19. The allegation by an anonymous alleger concerning broken containers of several thousand pounds of 7018 weld rod was addressed in Investigation Report No. 50-498/80-02; 50-499/80-02.
In view of the above and technical nature of the allegat*m, we do not presently see a need to isolve the in estigatory staff.
With your concurrence, we vill proceed with the investigation utilizing members of the RC&ES Branch.
