The HQ Duty Officer mdived a telephone call from an anonymous caller on

June 27, 1980, in which the caller alleged that the designers of piping systems for the South Texas Project am not competent. An extract from l
the Duty Officer's log was attached to a letter of transmittal and forwarded i
l to Region IV. A copy of the log estract and the transmittal letter, H. D.
j Thornburg to K. V. Seyfrit, dated July 8,1980, is attached.

l Tite seject of the allegation is similar to that reviewed by PES, V!S during their nomal inspection activities of the Brown & Root Houston office 'on i
i June 16-20, 1980. The subject / allegation Item No. 11, contained in a letter from an anonymous source, was received by the Region IV Director un June 13, i
1980, and refers to stress evaluation by Brown & Root. A copy of this letter i
from the anonymous source is also attached.
It is requested that your investigatory staff investigate this allegation in conjunction with the previous ones desionated in our letter to you on June 30, 1980. It is suggested that this item a so be included in the next inspection of S mwn & Root. Houston by PES, V!B.
