ALLEGED IMPROPRIETIES IN THE USE OF WELDING ELECTRODE SOUTE TEXAS PROJECT, Units 1 & 2. DN 50-498; 50-499 l
On February 29, 1980, a RIV inspector at STP reported that he had been informed by the EL&P Site @ Supervisor of alleged improprieties in the use of welding electrode at STF.
t Individual "A", EL&P construction welding supervisor, called Mr. D. Barker of EL&P on February 26, 1980, ad stated that there was collusion between Brown
& Root and Marez (electrode manufacturer) related to the use of weld electrode

at STP that had been rejected at CPSES. The allager stated that he was fired because of his knowledge of the problem. The electrode was apparently used '
for welding in the STP turbine generator building. No specific safety impli-cations were identified.

EL&P is investigating this matter.
The RIV inspector will attempt to obtain the allager's address and telephone neber.
