?!RR, f!RC "PROBABILISTIC ASSESSitEt!T OF THE SEIS!!IC FAZARD OF EASTERN UNITED STATES POWER PLANT SITES" (U KFADM G).

The enclosed NRC Form 173, Standard Order for DOE work, is hereby submitted in accordance with Section III 3.2 of the DOE /NRC nercrandum of understaliding dated February 24, 1978. The purpose of this letter is to request a proposal from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and to provide funding of $11,000 for initiation of a portion of the work.

These funds are needed to enable LLNL personnel to attend the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) workshop in Washington, D.C. on January 18-20, 1984. Additional funding for continuation of work during FY-1984 will be provided upon receipt of an acceptable proposal. The enclosed Statement of Work details the required work and should be used as the basis for preparing a proposal for submittal to this office.

Standard terns and conditions for tJRC work, as provided in the DOE /t:RC Fecorandum of Urderstanding of February 24, 1978, and described in NRC Manual Chapter 1102, should be used as the basis for preparing a proposal.

If a portion of this work is to be subcontracted, approval of the subcontractor is required in writing by me before initiation of any subcontractor effort. The proposal should contain as a minimum the inforration requested in the enclosed Proposal Content including professional qualifications for the principal participants you propose to utilize and should be submitted within 30 days to:
