Dear Mr. Giambusso:

l TURKEY POINT UNIT NO. 4 l

DOCEET NO. 50-251 l

INSPECTION OF SAFETY RELATED HYDRAULIC PIPE RESTRAINTS Inspection of the saf.ety related pipe restraints that are accessi-ble during power operation was cosipleted on october 12, 1974, in accordance with the continuing requirements of the Atomic Energy comunission Directorate of Licensing letter of November 8,1973.

One restraint located on the main steam piping had an indicated l

hydraulic fluid level that was below the minimum acceptable level.

This restraint was replaced with a spare unit.

The loss of fluid is believed to be the result of mechanical wear of the piston shaft packing as described in our previous inspection report dated August 26, 1974.

The inspection included a total of 15 restraints and all are ok tb*;.Bergen-Paterson design.

very truly yours, bw Robert E. Uhrig Vice President REU/IDIP/cyc I
