VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT 1 SECOND TEN-YEAR INTERVt.L INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM REVISION 4 North Anna Unit 1 is presently in the second period of the second ten-year interval.

North Anna Unit 1 examinations have been conducted to the requirements of the 1983 Edition and Summer 1983 Addenda of ASME Section XI.

The first period of the second interval ended on December 24,1991. The Virginia Power Inservice inspection (ISI) Manual has been revised requiring changes to be submitted for the ISI Program following completion of the first period. Revision 4 to the ISI Program is hereby submitted (Attachment 2) as required by 10 CFR 50.55a(g}. A summary of the changes is attached (Attachment 1).

The associated revision (Revision 4) to t' e ISI Program Plan for Components and Component Supports is also provided for your information (Attachment 3). The ISI Program Plan reports the examinations performed and scheduled for the Second inteival.

OF CHANGES NORTH ANNA UNIT 1 INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM REVISION 4

1) Changed relief request NDE-5 " Basis for Relief" section from .i "Two of the North Anna Power Station Unit 1 reactor coolant'  ;

pumps are ...

to "The North Anna Power Station Unit 1 reactor coolant pumps are ....

" All of the Unit i reactor' coolant pumps have casing welds.  !

2) The " Alternative Examination" section of relief request NDE-6 l has been revised to perform a visual examination on one valve I out of a group of similar valves. The examination will be l performed once an interval when one of the valves is  !

disassembled for maintenance purposes. This reflects the examination requirements of the 1989 Edition of ASME Section XI.

3) Changed the Augmented Inspection Table by removing the requirement for Rockwell Edwards valve examinations. This inspection program is no longer required.
4) Changed the Augmented Inspection Table for reactor coolant loop ,

bypass lines, pressurizer spray piping, main steam postulated l break locations, and feedwater postulated break locations.

Changed "every weld" to " selected welds." Not every weld within these system descriptions are required to be in the augmented inspection program.

5) Added Code Case N-489 to list of ASME Section XI Code Cases incorporated into program. This Code Case increases the time between Level III recertification from 3 years to 5 years.

6) Added relief request NDE-20 which was submitted to the NRC on l August 5, 1993. This relief request documents partial examinations from the 1993 refueling outage.  ;
7) Added relief request SPT-12 which was submitted to the NRC on August 5, 1993. This relief request allows alternatives to hydrostatic testing following repairs and replacements involving welding.
