1, no nuclear p~ower plant is absolutely safe. Agreed,noplankissafe,butnuclearisso dangerous because once released, the radiation cannot be contained.
- 2. The evacuation plans for the Berwick area are a disaster in themselves. Only necessary paper work to be granted an operating license.
3 Numerous components of the plant were found to be substandard.
They were replaced. How much more substandard construction was carried out without awareness or c6ncern? --
- 4. Reportedly construction workers were drinking.on'the job. That shouldn't be tolerated in any job least of all building a nuclear-plant.
5 The electrical energy is not needed in the Berwick area. In fact it will produce more electricity than can be used in the PP&L system.
- 6. Berwick gets the risks. Distant cities get the benefits.
7 Based upon my experiences as to how the Montour Steam Electric Station ( a coal fired plant) has been run in regards to environ-mental issues, I do not believe~PP&L to be safely capable of operating a nuclear plant.
Do us all a favor and shock the country as well, by refusing to grant an operating license to the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
