Mr. Geoffrey Grant, Acting Chief Inspection and Licensing Policy Branch Program Management, Policy Development and Analysis Staff U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 RE: Gulf States Utilities Company, River Bend Station, j Docket No. 50-458; Proposed Transfer of Ownership of River. Bend Station from Gulf States Utilities Company to  !

Entergy Corporation

Dear Mr. Grant:

The purpose of this letter is to respond to your July 7, 1993, request for information regarding certain concerns of SMEPA  ;

related to transmission service on the Entergy transmission system. l On behalf of SMEPA, I would like to inform you of ongoing negotiations between SMEPA and Entergy Services, Inc. ("ESI"), ,

which, if successful, would terminate SMEPA's participation in the .

above-captioned docket. SMEPA is hopeful that these negotiations will be concluded shortly. However, these negotiations are at a i sensitive stage. Therefore, SMEPA will not make a substantive response to the questions posed by the NRC at this time.

If the negotiations with ESI are not concluded successfully in a very brief period of time, SMEPA will respond to the NRC's questions promptly.  ;

A Sin e ely, ,,
