Linear Indications In Reactor Coolant
- Pump Volute l
l On June 10, 1981, Flecida Power & Light Company (FPL; informed your i office, in accordance with 10 CFR Part 50.55(e), of a potential reportable l item regarding linear indications found in the reactor coolant pump 2A1 i
volute. A preliminary assessment has-indicated that in all likelihood there is no safety concern because of safety factors included in the case thickness and the design analysis, and in the fact that the case had successfully passed hydrostatic test. However, a final determination cannot be made until further information relative to size and depth of the necessary excavations required to remove the reported indications l 1s considered in nozzle stress calculations. This information is l presently being evaluated.
Although an interim report (L-81-288 dated July 14,1981) indicated an August 10, 1981 completion date, we now expect thet the review will be completed and a final report issued by October 27, 1981.
