Docket No. 50-334

!!r. C. N. Dunn, Vice President Operations Division Duque:ne Light Company 435 Sixth Avenue Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219

Dear Mr. Dunn:

On June 6,1979 we issued Amendment i;o.18 to the Operating License forIn Beaver Valley Unit 1 related to this unit's Fire Protection Program.

the Safety Evaluation Report that accompanied this amendment we listed, in Table 3.1, the components of this program that had not been imple-mented and the scheduled dates for completion.

Specifically, in Iten 3.3, seven actions related to Fire Suppression were to be completed by October 31, 1980 or by the 1981 Refueling Outage.

Each of these seven items required prior review and approval by the NRC staff before being implemented.

Action Item 3.3-7 reflected our concern that additional manual hose coverage was needed throughout the plant. We have reviewed the comit-ments, made in your December 11, 1978 letter, to install additional hose and hose stations. We conclude that these additions would meet the guide-lines of Section 3(d) of Appendix A to Branch Technical Position APCSB 9.5-1 and are acceptable.
