Beaver Valley lower Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334 Fire Protection System Modific'.tions - Design Details Centlemen:
Certain items listed ir the Summary of Modifications section of the Beaver Valley Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report required additional information for the NRC to assure that the designs were acceptable.
Two of these itmes were 3.19-1, Detectors in the Control Room Vertical Panels and 3.19-2, Separation of the Control Room and Kitchen Area.
Both of these items were to be installed by December 31, 1979, and this implementation has been completed. However, the requirement to submit design details prior to implementation was overlooked. Attached hereto are the available design details 'or the two installed modificatione.
If you have any questions concerning these details, please contact my office.
Very truly yours, Gy W C. N. Dunn Vice President, Operations 9

DUQUESNE LIGHT COMPANY Docket No. 50-334 Attachment Design Details For:
3.19-1, Eetectors in Control Room Vertical Panels 3.19-2, Separation or control Room and Kitchen Area 1942 057
Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334 Fire Protection System Modifications - Design Details Attachment 3.19-1, Detectors in Control Room Vertic al Panels Three smoke detectors have been provided in the walk-through section of the vertical panels in the Control Room. These detectors are Honeywell ibdel TC-100A units, and they were added to the existing control room fire protection system.
The installation involved new wiring from the previous terminating detector (No. D86) to the three new detectors (D107, D108, D109).
The end-of-the-line resistor was relocated to the new terminating detector (D109) (See attached Figure No. 1).
Final electrical checkout and testing of *.ne detectors was performed by Honeywell, Inc., the supplier of the control rsom fire protection system.
3.19-2, Separation of the Control Room and Kitchen Area A one hour rated fire barrier has been erected between the control room and adjacent kitchen area.
The barrier was installed as shown in Figure No. 2 and was built to the specifications shown in the attached CID proposal.
