PASNY letter JPN-80-18 from P. J. Early to T. A. Ippolito, dated March 26, 1980

Dear Sir:

In response to the NRC letter of February 1, 1980, the Authority hereby informs the NRC of a delay in expected receipt of equipment associated with the system for direct indication of relief valve discharge. The equipment was shipped on April 7, 1980 and is expected at the site by April 11, 1980.

The reason for the delay of shipment from March 28, 1980, as reported to you in our letter referenced above, to April 7, 1980 is the result of a problem uncovered during the system check-out conducted by Babcock & Wilcox at their shop. The output re-lays when tripped, were actuating the low alarm. The defective mechanical relays have been replaced with solid state relays in order to eliminate the problem.

Tne Authority reaffirms our commitment for installation of the subject equipment within 30 days of receipt at the site (or to shutdown at the end of 30 days). In no case will operation operation beyond June 1, 1980 occur without installation of the subject equipment.

)00 40 Very truly yours, S
