Enclosure 2 Page 1 of 3 Emergency Planning and Security Inspection Reports at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station The complete history of emergency response and security inspection results at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) is maintained at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). SONGS Unit 1 was licensed in 1967, and accordingly, there is a very large number of records for inspections at the site. From the NRCs perspective, review of very old inspection reports that are likely not representative of current or recent performance is of limited value. As agreed in the July 27, 2018 teleconference, the list of inspection records corresponding to the most recent 10-year period is provided below. Should the U.S. Marine Corps have additional questions or find that review of older reports is necessary, the NRC is available to assist in addressing your information needs.
The emergency response inspection results are publically available and can be accessed in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)1 using the accession numbers listed in the tables below.
Security inspection reports are not publically available. The NRC Commission determined in the staff requirements memorandum (SRM) for SECY-04-0191, "Withholding Sensitive Unclassified Information Concerning Nuclear Power Reactors from Public Disclosure," dated November 9, 2004, that specific information related to findings and performance indicators associated with the security cornerstone will not be publicly available to ensure that security-related information is not provided to a possible adversary. Security inspection results are designated Official Use Only - Security-Related Information or as Safeguards Information as defined in Section 147 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and will require additional coordination to facilitate transmittal of the information due to handling restrictions.
