NEW JERSEY SENATE RAYMOND J. ZANE SENATOR 300 OISTRICT 44 COOPER STREET ROOM 209 WOODBURY, NEW JERSEY_ 08096 . .,,,,.

609-848* 1102 May 13,_ 1980 The Honorable Joseph M. Hendrie Chairman, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1717 H Street N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Mr. Hendrie:

I have been aware for some time that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is considering an application to license Salem I I Nuclear Generating Station in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J.

I am also well aware of the fact that the Nuclear Generating Station in Lower Alloways Creek lacks permanent disposal sites for spent fuel.

Therefore, I would like to voice my support of the Resolution adopted by the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders on March 21, 1979 opposing the licensing of Salem II until such a time as permanent disposal sites for spent fuels are operational and avail-able.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

I remain,
