ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-43 FOR FERMI NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 2 (CAC NO. MF4222)
Dear Mr. Polson:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-43 for Fermi Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 2 (Fermi 2). The NRC issued the renewed facility operating license based on the NRC staff's review of DTE Electric Companys (DTE) application dated April 24, 2014, as supplemented by letters submitted to the NRC through July 6, 2016. The NRCs review did not result in any amendments to the Fermi 2 technical specifications.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-43 for Fermi 2 expires midnight on March 20, 2045.
The technical safety basis for issuing the renewed license is set forth in Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Fermi 2, published on July 12, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML16190A241). The results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed license are set forth in NUREG-1437, Supplement 56, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 56, Regarding Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant, dated September 2016 (ADAMS Accession No. ML16259A103 for Volume 1 and No. ML16259A109 for Volume 2) and the NRCs Record of Decision (ADAMS Accession No. ML16270A567).
contains Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-43. Enclosure 2 contains Appendix A, Technical Specifications, and Appendix B, Environmental Protection Plan. to this letter is a copy of the Federal Register notice that announces the issuance of the renewed license. The NRC has sent the original notice to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
