By letter dated May 14, 2014, Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC submitted Revision 9 of the Physical Security Plan, Training and Qualification Plan, Safeguards Contingency Plan, and Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Security Program for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff is reviewing the submission and has determined that additional information is needed to complete its review. The specific questions are found in the enclosed request for additional information (RAI). The NRC staff is requesting a response to the RAI within 30 days of this letter.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING SECURITY PLAN, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATION PLAN, SAFEGUARDS CONTIGENCY PLAN AND INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION SECURITY PROGRAM, REVISION 9 CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, LLC.

EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-317 AND 50-318 By letter dated May 14, 2014 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML14139A425), Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC, submitted Revision 9 of the Physical Security Plan (PSP), Training and Qualification Plan, Safeguards Contingency Plan (SCP), and Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Security Program for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff is currently reviewing the submission to ensure compliance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (1 0 CFR) Section 50.54(p)(2). In order to complete its review, the NRC staff needs the following additional information:

There is a discrepancy between Section 18, page 29 of the PSP, and Section 5.9, page C-24 of the SCP.

a. Explain the conflict in language concerning the third sentence in the second paragraph of Section 18 and the second sentence in Section 5.9.

b. Confirm that appropriate changes will be made to reflect the current status of these sections in the next revision of the site security plan.

Regulatory Basis:

Consistent with 10 CFR 73.55(k)(6), "(i) Armed security officers, designated to strengthen onsite response capabilities, shall be onsite and available at all times to carry out their assigned response duties."

Consistent with 10 CFR 73, Appendix C, Section II.B.3.c.(v)(5), "Describe the specific structure and responsibilities of the armed response organization to include: [(1 )] the authorized minimum number of armed responders, available at all times inside the protected area [and (2)] the authorized minimum number of armed security officers, available onsite at all times."
