The U S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon), held a telephone conference call on January 16, 2014, to discuss requests for additional information (RAI), Set 7, for the Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station license renewal application. The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the RAis. provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a summary of the discussion.

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL FOR REQUEST ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, SET 7 FOR THE BYRON NUCLEAR STATION AND BRAIDWOOD NUCLEAR STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION January 16, 2014 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)staff and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon or the applicant), held a telephone conference call on January 16, 2014, to discuss Set 7 requests additional information (RAis) for the Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station license renewal application. The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the RAis.

Discussion The staff and the applicant discussed the following RAis:

RAI 3.1.2.3-1, Aging management of core barrel assembly (barrel plates and nozzles)

RAI 3.1.2.3-2, Aging management of core barrel assembly (upper and lower core barrel cylinder girth welds) (017)

RAI 8.2.1.16-1, Corrosion and flow blockage in fire protection piping (028)

For RAI 3.1.2.3-1, it was agreed that the second bullet item under the Request, concerning the core barre! assembly (barrel plates and nozzles), MRP-191 and MRP-227-A, was not needed and would be dropped.

The staff agreed to consider some minor changes that were discussed to better clarify the intent of the requests.

The applicant indicated that it understands the RAis and the discussion on the call, and it will take the discussion into consideration during its preparation of the RAI responses.
