The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC, (Exelon or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on November 5, 2013, to discuss request for additional information (RAI), Set 4, for Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station license renewal application. The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the RAis. provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a summary of the discussion.

The applicant had an opportunity to comment on this summary.

SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL FOR REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SET 4 FOR BYRON NUCLEAR STATION AND BRAIDWOOD NUCLEAR STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION November 5, 2013 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC. (Exelon or the applicant), held a telephone conference call on November 5, 2013, to discuss request for additional information (RAis), Set 4, for Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station license renewal application (LRA). The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the RAis.

Discussion The staff and the applicant discussed the following RAis along with possible minor word edits to consider for them:

B.2.1.22-1, ASME Code Class 1 Socket weld failure RAI B.2.1.22-2, Small-bore piping weld sample populations RAI B.3.1.1-2, Analyses other than ASME Code Section Ill fatigue analyses in the Fatigue Monitoring Program RAI B.2.1.7-3, Inspection of cold-worked 316 stainless steel control rod guide tube split pins (Note: This RAI has been pulled from this set and will be presented at a later time in accordance with a staff request.)

RAI B.2.1.7-6, Aging management for RVI clevis insert bolts RAI B.2.1.5-1, Missing operating experience from LRA concerning loss of material due to wear in CRDM nozzles RAI B.2.1.5-2, Loss of Material from thermal sleeves of reactor vessel head nozzles The applicant indicated that it understands the RAis and will take the discussion into consideration during its preparation of the RAI responses.
