Haddam Neck Plant Additional Information Relating to NRC Inspection 50-213/87-24 In a telephone conversation during the subject inspection at Haddam Neck, the NRC Staff requested additional information relating to the Haddam Neck reactor coolant system piping inservice inspections performed in 1987.

Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company hereby provides the requested information as follows:

o Attachment 1 - Radiographic Inspection Reports for the Haddam Neck Reactor Coolant Loop Weldments (original) o Attachment 2 - Weld Data Cards (original) for the Haddam Neck Reactor Coolant Loop Weldments o Attachment 3 - Welding Procedure Specification Used for Fabrication of Haddam Neck Reactor Coolant Loops i

There are five reactor coolant loop weldments in all. Four of these are field l weldments; one is a shop weldment. The four field weldments revealed surface indications when examined under the inservice inspection program conducted during the 1987 refueling outage. These surface indications were dispositioned as acceptable under the requirements of the ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code, i Section XI. The shop weldment revealed no surface indications.

the arc on the edge of the aligner and allow the molten puddle to flew onto the tubing, thus minimizing the heat and subsequent oxidation of the inner surface of the tubing vall. In most cases a ningle pass vill be adequate to form a bead of sufficient size and strength. Internal gas purging is not required.
