Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 File: 0260/L-835.0 Special Report 85-010/0, RCIC Room Excessive Temperature AECM-85/0251 On July 20, 1985, from 0145 to 1430 the temperature in the RCIC room exceeded the 104*F limit of Technical Specification 3.7.8. The maximum temperature reached in this 12.8 hour9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br /> period was 104.5'F.

The temperature limit was exceeded due to a steam leak arour.d the packing of Valve FX057. The temperature was lowered to specification temperature by starting the RCIC fan coil unit. MWO M54442 was initiated to fix the leak.

This MWO has been worked and was completed on July 30, 1985.

Engineering reviewed the Environmental Qualification files for the equipment in the RCIC Room (Room 1A104) and verified that all equipment in this room has been qualified for temperatures of 105'F (or greater). Therefore, the operability of the RCIC Room equipment was not affected by the 104.5"F temperature.

The Special Report is submitted in accordance with the requirements of the action statement of Technical Specification 3.7.8.a and pursuant to 'lechnical Specification 6.9.2.
