Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-13 File 0260/L-835.0 Special Report 83-005/0, Fire Doors Blocked Open During Welding Activities AECM-83/0186 On February 9, 1983, while the reactor mode switch was in REFUEL, the following fire doors were blocked open during welding activities to conduct a planned maintenance work order: Control Building corridor doors OC219 and OC220; Division 2 Switchgear Room door OC214; and Division 3 Switchgear Room door OC210. Voluntary entry into Technical Specification 3.7.7 action (a) was initiated and an hourly fire watch was established.

When velding in the area was complete the fire doors were returned to normal operation. The duration of the Limiting Condition for Operation was 13 days and 20 hours2.314815e-4 days <br />0.00556 hours <br />3.306878e-5 weeks <br />7.61e-6 months <br />. The event had no affect on the health and safety of the public and did not constitute a threat to plant safety. This Special Report is submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 3.7.7.a and pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.2. This is a final report.
