UPDATE ON JUNE 22, 1989 MANUAL REACTOR TRIP EVENT-CORPORATE OFFICER RELIEVED OF LICENSEE DUTIES On June 29, 1989, Mr. Edward Brown, President of New Hampshire Yankee, informed NRC Region I that the Vice President-Nuclear Production was being relieved of all responsibilities related to the Seabrook Station. This action was taken as a result of an executive management decision by the facility owners based on their review of licensee actions taken during and following the June 22, 1989 manual reactor trip event.

Subsequently on June 29, 1989, the Vice President - Nuclear Productior resigned from PS-NH.

The State of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have been informed.

The NRC Seabrook resident office has received media inquiries about this matter.

Continued media interest is anticipated.
