Subject:
BOMB THREAT A telephone call was received by a Boston, Massachusetts, television station (WCVB - Channel 5) at 8:33 p.m., May 24, 1989, indicating that the caller, who remained anonymous, had planted a bomb at the Seabrook Nuclear Station.
The television station notified the Seabrook, New Hampshire Police of the threat, who in turn notified the Seabrook station at 8:55 p.m.
The licensee's operations shif t supervisor contacted the television station for more information and, at 9:05 p.m., the licensee determined the threat to be non-credible.
Bomb threat contingency procedures were not implemented but a hightened security awareness was initiated in and around the station.
The resident inspector became aware of the event while reviewing the daily activity logs at 7:00 a.m. on May 25.
The inspector and regional staff discussed the matter with the licensee and reviewed the licensee's response actions. The staff concluded that the 1
l licensee's actions were appropriate for the circumstances.
The State of New Hampshire was notified by Region I.
