The CAL confirms commitments made by Mr. Edward Brcwn, President and CEO of New Hampshire Yankee that, prior to restart of the unit, the licensee will complete its post-trip review process, establish and implement necessary short-term corrective actions to address the specific deficiencies identified during the review, determine appropriate long-term corrective actions to address any potentially broader implications of the identified deficiencies, and brief the NRC staff on the results of these reviews. Further, the agreement of the Regional Administrator, Region I, would be obtained prior to restart.

Media interest is anticipated associated with the issuance of the CAL.

The State of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have been informed.

A Commissioners' Assistants briefing is planned.
