UPDATE ON JUNE 22,'1989 MANUAL REACTOR TRIP EVENT - FORMATION OF. AUGMENTED INSPECTION TEAM-On June 26, 1989 Mr. William Russell directed the formation of an Augmented Inspection

.. Team (AIT) to review the circumstances surrounding the June 22, 1989 manual reactor trip event at Seabrook Station Unit No. 1. The team will be managed from the NRC-Region I office at King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and ' led by a supervisor from that-office. Team members will include engineers and technical personnel.from both the NRC Region I' of fice and the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation at Rockville, Maryland.

The onsite team activities currently are planned to begin on Wednesday June 28 and end on Friday June 30.

The State of New Hampshire and +.he Commonwealth of Massachusetts have been informed.

Continued extensive media interest is anticipated. The Region I Public Affairs Office plans to notify the media of the decision.
