~1 PRESSURIZER VENTINGOPERATION A.PURPOSETheobjective ofthisinstruction istospecifytherequiredoperatoractionsandprecautions necessary toventnon-condensible gasesfromthepressurizer vaporspace.Thisinstruction mayalsobeusedasanalternate methodofdepressurizing

'thereactorcoolantsystemwhichmayberequiredbytheactionsofanotheroperating instruction.

B.INITIALCONDITIONS CAUTION:Thepressurizer ventshouldrot'beusedastheprimarymeansofdepressurizing theRC$duringaninadequate corecoolingevent.RefertoInadequate CoreCoolingGuidelines-forappropriate operatoractionsandprecautions.

NOTE:Thisguideline assumesthatthereactorcontainment conditions arenearnormal"nd:anaccuratepressurizer pressureandlevelindication

1.Samplinghasindicated thepresenceofasignificant quantityofnon-condensible gasesinthepressurizer vaporspace.2.Abnormal'onditions havebeenexperienced withthepressurizer levelandpressurecontrolsystems3.Pressurizer sprayis-ineffective inreducingthepressurizer pressure.

5.AnRCSdepressurization isrequired.byanotheroperating instruction andpressurizer sprayis~notavailable and/ortheuseofthepoweroperatedrelief~valvesisnotdesirable.

6.Thereactorvesselheadhasbeenvented,ifrequired, priortoventingthepressurizer

  • 7.Increasechargingflowtomaximumtolimitthedepressurization rateduringtheventingperiod.Pressurizer levelwilltrendupwardduringtheventingoperation.
