Letter (GL) 96-01, " Testing of Safety-Related Logic Circuits" (TAC l Nos. M94650, M94651, M94652, M94732, M94733, M94750)

This letter provides confirmation of the completion of requested actions of GL 96-01 as committed to NRC in the reference correspondence. These actions were completed on May 5,1997 for both SON units prior to startup from the Unit 1 Cycle 8 refueling outage.

l The reviews performed in accordance with the generic letter identified areas that

I required improvement. Four licensee event reports were generated as a result of I l testing deficiencies identified during these reviews. In each case the appropriate O i Technical Specification (TS) required actions were taken and the associated functions were tested. Recurrence controls are being implemented in accordance with the LER actions to ensure compliance during future performances. The reviews identified four f 4

p functions that were not required to be tested by TS surveillance requirements. Two P h/

l of these functions currently have appropriate testing procedures and procedures for the remaining functions are being developed in accordance with the site corrective action program. TVA is preparing TS amendment requests for each of these items.
