SUBJECT:

Beav'er Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 Control Room Radiation Monitors

REFERENCES:

(a) 2NRC-4-158, dated October 3, 1984 (b) 2NRC-5-117, dated August 14, 1985 Gentlemen:

In Reference (a), Duquesne Light Company (DLC) indicated that addi-tional analyses were being performed to evaluate the necessity for the addition of control room radiation monitors which would automatically actuate the con-trol room emergency ventilation systems. In Reference (b), the NRC was notified that two new Category I area radiation monitors to accomplish the above described function would be installed in both sections of the Beaver Valley Unit 1 and Unit 2 control room.

Amendment No.11 to the Beaver Valley Unit 2 Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) implemented text revisions in Section 9.4 to address this plant design modication. Revisions to Chapter 7 instrumentation diagrams to account for this plant design modification will be included in the next revision to the Beaver Valley Unit 2 FSAR, Amendment No. 12. Attached is a copy of the changes which are currently expected to occur in the Chapter 7 Figures of the FSAR. Although the attached changes have not undergone final DLC formal approval, the formal FSAR Amendment will be the same or very similar to the attached copy.
