Your letter dated May 3, 1990 (TAC 67296 and 67297) requested Duquesne Light company (DLC) to recommit to Item C.1 of Bulletin 88-02
" Rapidly Propagating Fatigue Cracks in Steam Generator Tubes" pending the completion of Westinghouse's reassessment of the_
steam generator tube fatigue evaluations Westinghouse performed for Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2.
We have reinstituted Chemistry Manual Chapter SP1
" Enhanced Primary to Secondary Leakrate Monitoring Program" for Beaver Valley Unit 1 which meets the requirements of Item C.1 as described in our March 28, 1988 response to Bulletin 88-02.
Item C.1 is not applicable to Beaver Valley Unit 2 (BV-2) since BV-2 has not experienced denting at the uppermost support plate.
We will submit Westinghouse's reassessment to the NRC for review after we receive it.
Chemistry Manual Chapter SP1 Will remain in effect until the NRC review of the Westinghouse reassessment is completed.
If you have any questions concerning this response, please contact my office.
Very truly yours, Y
~
