SUBJECT:

TELEPHONE THREAT TO FACILITY - REVISION 1 Note: This revision corrects the occurrence date from September 9, 1989 to September 11, 1989. At 11:37 a.m. (EDT) on September 11, 1989, the switchboard operator at the licersee's corporate office (23rd and Market Streets, Philadelphia) received an anonymous telephone call. The caller calmly and clearly, but rapidly, stated "We've already had the threat once; we won't miss the gate this time at Limerick." The operator was able to deternine that the call originated from either the licensee's Limerick or Peach Bottom Station. The licensee could not associate this threat with any previous threat to the Limerick Station. However, on May 25, 1989, a vehicle bomb threat, involving' the Peach Bottom Station, was similarly received (reference PNS-I-89-07). The licensee does not consider the threat to be credible but has implemented precautionary measures at the Limerick Station and has instituted a heightened security awareness at both nuclear stations. This information was provided to the NRC's Limerick resident inspector and Pegion I at about 12:25 p.m. The NRC's Information Assessment Team'has been apprised and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been notified. This PN is issued for information and the resident inspector will follow-up on any additional licensee actions. CONTACT: R. R.
