GENERAL ELECTRIC-HITACHI GLOBAL LASER ENRICHMENT FACILITY U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION INSPECTION REPORT 70-7016/2020-402

Dear Mr. Owens:

This report documents the results of the information security inspection that was conducted on November 9, 2020, at the Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) facility site in Wilmington, North Carolina and the classified document reviews that were performed remotely on December 10, 2020. The purpose of this inspection was to determine whether activities authorized under the license were conducted safely, securely, and in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements. The results of this inspection were discussed with members of your staff at an exit meeting held on December 15, 2020.

During the inspection, the NRC staff examined activities conducted under your license as they related to protection of classified information and confirmed compliance with the Commissions rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. Areas examined during the inspections are identified in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspections consisted of selected examination of procedures and representative records, observations of activities, and interviews with personnel.

Based on the results of these inspections, no violations of more than minor significance were identified.

The material enclosed herewith contains Security-Related Information associated with the classified information security safeguards program at the GLE facility, and in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(d)(1), its disclosure to unauthorized individuals could present a security vulnerability.
