INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT CLOSEOUT FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC HITACHI GLOBAL LASER ENRICHMENT FACILITY

Department of Energy (DOE) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Protection of Classified Information and Related Security Activities at Uranium Enrichment Facilities, dated September 23, 2020 On September 23, 2020, DOE provided notice of the termination of the MOU between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Department of Energy on the Protection of Classified Information and Related Security Activities at Uranium Enrichment Facilities and corresponding transition of associated activities, to be effective March 22, 2021. Consistent with DOEs notice of termination of the MOU, this letter provides written notification of closeout and termination of Interagency Agreement (IAA) activities associated with NRC Agreement Number 31310019S0009 for the Protection of Classified Information and Related Security Activities at the General Electric Hitachi Global Laser Enrichment Facility in accordance with NRC General Terms and Conditions for Interagency Agreements.

Near term activities outlined in the IAA statement of work are complete. Transition of remaining tasks, responsibilities and associated authorities specified in the IAA, including Authorizing Official for classified IT systems, are the responsibility of the NRC as of the date of this letter.

The Department is identifying unexpended funds associated with this agreement for return to NRC in coordination with the designated NRC Contracting Officer Representative and the responsible Regulatory Management Team Leader for Nuclear Fuel Supply as specified in the IAA.
