SUBJECT:

PRIMARY SYSTEM BLOWDOWN During power operation on April 15, one Target Rock safety-relief valve inadvertently opened. The transient caused the electro-hydraulic  !

control (EHC) system to trip the turbine control valves and scram the l reactor. The safety-relief valve did not reseat until the reactor -

pressure had decreased to 280 psig. Suppression pool cooling was @

it .iated and limited the pool temperature to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fahrenheit per hour may have been exceeded. A thermal transient analysis  !

is in progress. The safety-relief valve and an EHC pump will be replaced  !

prior to return to power. t Media interest is not expected. A news release is not planned by the licensee nor NRC. The State of Alabama has been informed.
