Dear Mr. Barrett:

This letter is to formally request an aerial radiation survey at the Saxton facility in Pennsylvania. The survey is being done to identify areas where hot-spots may exist; based on an NRC inspection report on the facility. The utility =

will undertake a walk down survey of its own but the aerial survey, currently scheduled for early July should add' vital information to a determination of. the '

extent of offsite contamination.

I would like carry over funds from the aerial measurements contract to be' l i redirected towards this effort until such time as_ shared funding with DOE can-be pursued.

'The NRC believes that this effort is consistent with its role to protect the health' and safety of the public and as such is an expeditious use 'of the contractor support.
