CONSTRUCTION WORKER FATALITY

The Region V office was notified by the on-site Resident Inspector at 8:15 a.m. on May 26,1981, that at about 9:35 a.m. on May 22, 1981, a block mason employed by the Marley Company, the cooling tower contractor, fell approximately 40 feet from a scaffold to the floor inside the Unit 2 Cooling Tower "C". The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The licensee has issued a news release. The NRC does not plan to issue a news release.

Media interest is not anticipated. This PN is issued for information only and is closed for reporting purposes.
